Build a Better Course

The game of GOLF... played with a DISC... is a great sport that ANYBODY and EVERYBODY can play.

It's one of the fastest growing sports with more than 8,000 courses, 3,500 annual tournaments and millions of players.

Park departments, around the world, loved the idea of a low-budget, low-maintenance, free amenity.

It was thought to be a perfect fit for outdoor recreation BUT...

After 4 decades, is the same "old school" model still the best way to present the game?

Have we miss-judged, under-estimated and failed to realize the potential value of the sport?

The "low-budget" era of the game served its purpose and proved it to be a legitimate "concept" BUT...

ALL of the courses are of very poor quality and NONE OF THEM are good enough to attract the "general public".

Only the "hard-cores" play and many, of even those players, will eventually withdraw from the game.

Is the MOST being made of a very PLAYABLE sport?

JUST THINK... WHAT WOULD HAPPEN... IF YOU BUILT A BETTER COURSE?

Today... the game is making dramatic changes and providing much better recreation for all.

WHY NOT BUILD A BETTER COURSE?

If you want to offer your patrons, community and general public a quality place to...

meet, play and enjoy a great social and recreational walking game...

with exercise and fresh air, in a beautiful outdoor setting...

BUILD A BETTER COURSE

This is not a game just for the "hard-core disc players".

With a good plan... this is a game that everyone will play!

What do we do?

             At INGLE DESIGNS...

our job is to help resorts, parks and real estate developers provide quality courses that are affordable and profitable.

Services include: course design, construction, management, maintenance, marketing, tournament production and funding.

Clients may choose between either...

a "DISC GOLF COURSE" or a "DISCOLF® COURSE".

The inevitable transformation between “sub-quality free courses” and

“self-sustainable commercial courses” requires a dramatic change

in thinking, design, management, maintenance and marketing.

At the end of the day... "disc" golf is very similar to "ball" golf...

in that, it's the kind of game that requires a "fee to play" for the provision of quality courses and great recreation... for the "general public".

From Maine to California...

a great "disc" golf course can generate between $1,500,000 and $3,000,000 in annual revenue

with just a $19 fee to play + retail sales + food & beverages... AND... on only a third of the land of a "ball" golf course.

For the game of GOLF… played with a DISC

Tom Ingle

As one of the first to organize "DISC-SPORTS" in America…

starting in 1972... Tom Ingle was a pioneer.

He designed and built some of the first Disc Golf Courses,

established some of the first Ultimate Disc Leagues,

produced hundreds of Disc Tournament-Events

and helped launch the flight of the "flying-disc".

(400 rounds every day during the summer season)

In 1992, after 20 years in DISC-SPORTS and with a heavy heart,

Tom left the sport and went on to do other things.

He worked on a "ball" golf course construction crew

and was the President of a local “ball" golf Club.

All to learn those aspects of the business.

Working with two major civil engineering firms,

for years, Tom continued to hone his course design skills

with practice and experimentation on several prototype examples.

A combination of detailed hand drawings and extensive CADD work.

(He also owned other businesses, along the way, as well.)

As a student of both amateur and professional sports, his entire life,

Tom understood the importance of outdoor recreation...

and he never stopped thinking about how to make the game of GOLF... played with a DISC... WORK.

Our Philosophy...

For the game of GOLF... played with a DISC... to be successful...

the COURSE must be... SPECTACULAR!

We believe the game of GOLF... played with a DISC

should emulate the game of GOLF... played with a BALL.

AND... with a bigger market and profit margin...

IT CAN AFFORD TO BE SECTACULAR...

BUILD A BETTER COURSE!

It has a MUCH BIGGER MARKET than BALL GOLF...

because it requires less time, less cost, it's easier to play...

and it's just as much fun… if not more!

It has a MUCH BIGGER PROFIT MARGIN than BALL GOLF...

because it can handle twice the player capacity, on a third of the land...

for much faster play and less land to maintain!

 Tom Ingle

The game of GOLF... played with a DISC...

unlike many sports, is a VERY PLAYABLE GAME that can attract the masses

and our courses are designed to maximize the benefits of this recreational advantage!

Now, more than ever, our society needs good outdoor activities

that will get people outside and away from their computer screens

and the game of GOLF... played with DISC is a great option.

We design courses that appeal to and serve the "general public"...

which creates a wide-range of values.

We believe...

in giving careful consideration for

the right type of discs to be used

for the overall good of the game.

We believe...

the game should be about

accuracy... not distance.

We believe...

in designing courses that are fun,

fair and encourage participation...

for the most people.

We believe... the more we can level the playing field... the more people will play.

For years and years, (decades), thousands of poor quality disc golf courses were installed.

Over 150,000 acres of under-utilized disc golf courses.

Just placing 18 disc golf "targets" around an "existing landscape"... isn't interesting, it isn't professional and it's just not good enough.

Defined by mowing heights and framed by trees...

we design courses that create that all important dynamic dimension

of a well laid out route... and a visual effect... that is so pleasing to a player's eye.

It's a lushly landscaped DEFINED COURSE that makes it so attractive!

It's the "art of design" that will make your course a success!

Your local disc player... is not a proficient designer.

A sophisticated design requires extensive plans for many integrated elements.

Our team of professional engineers, architects and designers will give you the best results

for whatever budget we are given... small, medium or large.

BUILD A BETTER COURSE!

Design, Construction, Management and Funding

Full Service Company.

In the past, Disc Golf Courses were built with very little money for design, construction and maintenance.

Today, players want better and better courses and to reach the mainstream "general public"...

it's a must!

Poor quality courses with small budgets, no supervision and free to play... don't work well.

It wouldn't work for GOLF and... it doesn't work for DISC GOLF.

BUDGETS

When the game of GOLF began... there were no budgets... just a ball, a stick and a hole in the ground.

The courses were very rough with no design, no management, no maintenance, free to play and of very poor quality.

Only a very few played but, over a period of time, the courses got better, the maintenance got better and more people played.

PROPER COURSES require PROPER BUDGETS

For real success... the game of GOLF... played with a DISC... requires more than just a tee-pad, a disc and a target.

You cannot develop several acres of land and expect to attract the "general public"... without a suitable budget.

Unless, you believe, a low budget is all the game needs or deserves.

THE OBJECTIVE

Provide the best recreation for the most people!

The game of GOLF... played with a DISC... is a VERY PLAYABLE game!

"FREE" or "PAY and PLAY"

For Management, Maintenance and A Return On Your Investment...

You're going to need an on-going cash flow, (from those that play), to cover expenses.

               DISC GOLF or

The only difference is the "target" for completing each Hole.

Whichever you prefer... the key to success... is design, management and maintenance.

"BASKETS" or "GROUND-HOLES"

"Ground-Holes" are a better "target" but... "Baskets-on-a-Pole" cost less.

Whichever you prefer... the key to success... is design, management and maintenance.

MORE PEOPLE WILL PLAY

A GREAT SPORT WITH VISUAL BEAUTY and CHALLENGING FUN

"PITCH & PUTT" Courses - (18 Holes - About 10 - 20 Acres) - All Par 2s
"PAR 3" Courses - (18 Holes - About 25 - 35 Acres) - All Par 3s
"EXECUTIVE" Courses - (18 Holes - About 40 - 50 Acres) - Par 3s and 4s
"CHAMPIONSHIP" Courses - (18 Holes - About 50 - 70 Acres) - Par 3s, 4s and 5s

From the beginning - to this day - everyone has been programmed and conditioned to sell the sport

as a low-budget, free activity and that is what many Parks and, even, some players still believe.

It was a good way to get the sport going at first but, in reality, it's not a good business model.

A "low-budget" course will not serve your patrons well and a "free to play" course will always lose money.

You need to... cover your investment, capital improvements, annual expenses and... make a profit.

(We cannot emphasize this enough.)

You'll love the beauty and efficient layout of your new course and its ability to attract players and add value.

I've been involved with the game of GOLF... played with a DISC... since its inception. I've lived the sport for a very long time and can speak from experience and knowledge about "who", "what", "how", "where", "why" and "when".

I can personally promise you our very best efforts with every aspect in providing a great course at your location...  Tom Ingle
